Cuisine. Numerous seaside gourmet restaurants line the highway between the town of St. Francois and Anse des Chateaux.


ACCESS TO BEACH:
A good road leads to Point des Chateaux, the easternmost point of Guadeloupe, where you will find a large parking lot just where the road loops around.

QUALITY OF BEACH:
Pounding surf make this a great location for surfers; ordinary swimming is not advised. The beach is great for tanning, however and the crashing sound is terrific for lulling a tired vacationer to sleep.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
An absolutely astounding site, noted for it's salt spray, deep sandy beach and rocky mountainous headlands that enclose the bay. High atop one of the rocky promontories that overlook the bay is a cross; the steep path leading up to it is recommended only for the religious or the physically fit. There is a  calm little swimming beach on the north side of the point, a short walk just west of the parking lot.
